Barbell Row – This exercise will work your entire back.
– Grip the barbell with your palms in a neutral position(palms facing downward). Bend your knees slightly and bring your torso forward by bending at the waist. Keep your back straight until it is close to parallel to the floor. Keep the head up. The barbell should hang directly in front of you, close to your body, perpendicular to the floor and your torso. This is your starting position.
– While keeping the torso stationary, exhale and lift the barbell into your waist. Keep the elbows close to your body. At the top contracted position, squeeze the back muscles and hold for a brief pause.
– Inhale and slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position. The starting position should have your arms fully extended, scapula forward. The completed position should have your elbows pulled back, barbell at your waist, and scapula contracted.
